Technology in the Classroom (LCD Projector)

The LCD Project is a device very important in my technology because it enhances our way of learning. According to an LCD projector is a type of video projector for displaying video, images or computer data on a screen or other flat surface. It is a modern analog of the slide projector or overhead projector. To display images, LCD (liquid crystal display) projectors typically send light from a Metal halide lamp through a prism that separates light to three poly silicone panels -- one each for the red, green, and blue components of the video signal. As polarized light passes through the panels (combination of polarizer, LCD panel and analyzer), individual pixels can be opened to allow light to pass or closed to block the light. The combination of open and closed pixels can produce a wide range of colors and shades in the projected image.

Technology in the Classroom

As a student I think that the use of computer and the internet is the best way to learn. The reason I say this is because when surfing through the web you find a variety of interesting articles that provide information on new developing technology devices. The computer plays a key role in helping me to receive valuable information and to keep it in me for a long period of time. According to wikipedia the computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions. My definition of the computer is very similar but in a way the opposite, I believe the computer can manipulate a human's brain as well because sometimes we can get very addicted to this marvelous device. Did u know that the first devices resembling a modern computer were developed in the mid-20th century (1940–1945), although similar machines had been constructed earlier. The first electronic computers were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers (PC). Modern computers based on tiny integrated circuits are millions to billions of times more capable than the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space, all this information was gien by wikipedia as well.

A Little About Myself

My name is Alejandro Fonseca, I'm currently attending Tri-Cities High School in which I am a senior graduating with the Class of 2009. My two past times are Soccer and Online Chat, Myspace for example is one of the websites that I chat through with new people. I enjoy playing sports and hanging out with my friends during the weekends. I'm a sort of laid back person that loves to chill all the time. I consider myself an artistic person, not that I can draw or paint, but I enjoy looking at other people's artwork. The painting to your left is one of the many that I admire simply because it brings peace and prosperity to my life.

Solar Power

Solar energy is the radiant light and heat from the Sun that has been harnessed by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Solar radiation along with secondary solar resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass account for most of the available renewable energy on Earth. Only a minuscule fraction of the available solar energy is used.
Solar power technologies provide electrical generation by means of heat engines or photovoltaics. Once converted its uses are only limited by human ingenuity. A partial list of solar applications includes space heating and cooling through solar architecture, potable water via distillation and disinfection, daylighting, hot water, thermal energy for cooking, and high temperature process heat for industrial purposes.
Solar technologies are broadly characterized as either passive solar or active solar depending on the way they capture, convert and distribute sunlight. Active solar techniques include the use of photovoltaic panels, solar thermal collectors, with electrical or mechanical equipment, to convert sunlight into useful outputs. Passive solar techniques include orienting a building to the Sun, selecting materials with favorable thermal mass or light dispersing properties, and designing spaces that naturally circulate air.
